Promotion: IHG Rewards Club Offers Double Airline Miles & 20% Off Food & Beverage
IHG Rewards Club has a promotion of double airline miles for stays from now until July 31, 2014. This offer is good at all participating properties in Asia, Australasia, Africa, and the Middle East. In addition, if you present your frequent flyer card during check-in you’ll be credited 20% for all food and beverage.

To see if this was a good deal, I went to check the rates for the InterContinental Hotel, at OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg, SA, but realized that it wasn’t a participating property. Next, I tried the InterContinental Phnom Penh, selecting random weekend dates of July 12- July 14, 2014. The price was $185 a night, but when I removed the promotion, I found…a lower rate.
Reading the fine print I also saw, “20% F&B Discount excludes Room Service”. That settled it for me, since I would be more likely to order room service than eat in the restaurant. This isn’t a good promotion for me, but if you plan on eating in the restaurants at some of the pricier properties you may not mind paying more for the room in exchange for the discount and miles.

Must be a IHG® Rewards Club member to participate in this promotion. Bonus miles will be awarded on every qualifying stay at participating InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza®, Holiday Inn® and Holiday Inn Express® Hotels & Resorts during the promotion period. A stay is defined as one night or consecutive nights at the same hotel, regardless of frequency of check-in/out. A stay is qualified when paying qualifying rates, which include most business and leisure rates. You must be a miles collector with the participating airline in order to collect airline miles. Only one room per member per night will be awarded the applicable bonus miles. Frequent Flyer Membership card has to be presented at check-in to receive 20% F&B Discount. 20% F&B discount is not valid at Holiday Inn Express Hotels. 20% F&B Discount excludes Room Service and Conference/Banqueting Events.
