Hotel Review: Andaz Napa
For a long weekend in wine country, I wanted a perfect jumping off point.  I decided to try out the Andaz Napa hotel, which is located in the west end district. Lots of restaurants are nearby and there are over 15 tasting rooms within walking distance. Oxbow Public Market, a foodie’s delight is less than a half mile away.
With just 141 rooms, it definitely feels like a boutique hotel. The lobby was airy and bright, with check-in counters resembling wine barrels. A huge map of the Napa area was painted across an entire wall.
Complimentary lemon and lime flavored water was offered during check-in. Down the hallway was the Mercantile Social bar which offers artisan burgers and beer starting at 4pm.
Using a confirmed suite upgrade, the Andaz Tower Suite I was given was on the small side and faced another room.
There was plenty of natural light though, and there was a shared living room/bedroom fireplace that turned on with the flip of a switch.  The couch, table and bedroom dresser reminded me of college dorm room, but there were hickory hardwood floors throughout the suite.
The soaking tub is placed close to the bed and within the line of sight of the fireplace, so you can watch the fire and unwind in the bath after a long day. Glass of wine optional. I love fireplaces in bedrooms!
The bedroom was also on the smaller “cozy” side, but the website boasts about their 12 foot ceilings.
A Geneva docking station was bedside, and a 42†flat screen TV was in the bedroom and another was in the living room.
The bathroom was cheery with creamy yellow walls.
The grape seed bath amenities called 29 were by the local company Preserves which uses natural ingredients.
A large rain shower and extra towels completed the bathroom.
The minibar was complimentary (except alcohol), so I treated myself to a Ginger soda and a Mandarin and Seville orange juice. There were also two bags of chips and a cookie, but they were inhaled before a picture could have been taken.
For an additional fee, there was also a selection of wines and hard liquor.
Breakfast the next morning was served at the relaxed farmer’s table restaurant on the first floor, which had large tables and a fireplace.Â
The breakfast menu featured farm fresh items, including freshly squeezed juices and pumpkin spiced buttermilk pancakes. Yum!
I settled on the house made granola and fresh banana bread, freshly squeezed orange juice and a green vegetable smoothie. They were all delicious.
Even the butter and jam was made fresh onsite. What a treat.
I liked that snacks and drinks were complimentary, and I think this hotel is in a great location. After driving from SFO, once I parked at the hotel I was able to walk everywhere I wanted to go. Plus, the concierge will even help pack and ship wines that you’ve purchased while in town. I didn’t care for the room much, as I prefer a bit more space especially when using a suite upgrade.
Hyatt Category 5. 20,000 points for a free night, or 10,000 points + $125 Cash & Points redemption.
Stayed at the Andaz Napa with my wife for a couple of nights during our honeymoon, We also stayed in a Tower Suite, which was facing the road. I do not agree with you that the room. Looking back at my pictures the room looks average compared to other Andaz Suites, maybe the one you got was smaller. I can confirm that guest have access to a fitness center right next to the hotel.
In my book, this is one of the better Andaz hotels I have stayed at, would definitely come back here.
I loved the Andaz Napa. The Staff was fantastic, the restaurant terrific and the location for Napa was great. It was also an easy drive to the many vineyards. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.
Fun hotel, I have stayed here many times. great location in downtown Napa. Wish the sofa was larger for a 3rd person to sleep on.
It’s strange that a Hyatt would not have a pool. I looked for some information and found that guests have complimentary access to the neighboring Exertec Fitness Center that also has a lap pool.
Hi Ed, thanks for tip. I prefer when the pool is right in the hotel, but at least there is some access to an external fitness center.
Not an inspiring hotel. One to avoid. Thanks for the report.
Looks like a fairly disappointing Andaz property compared to others I’ve seen and stayed at. Not impressed. Makes me wonder how small the regular rooms might be, let alone this Tower Suite. Thanks for the review.
