Fun Hotel Perks & Freebies: NYC Edition
Most people are familiar with the standard perks that hotel status provides. Complimentary breakfasts, bottled water, and wifi. Here are some fun perks & freebies at NYC hotels that go above and beyond, no status required.
Greenwich Hotel – Minibar snacks are free. I’m not talking about a simple bag of nuts, either. Hotel co-owner Robert DeNiro’s favorite snacks are stocked in each room. Some of the tantalizing treats include Jujyfruits, Oreos, M&M’s, Uncle Jerry’s Handmade Pretzels, and Tate’s Chocolate Chip cookies.
Ink48 – Ask for the Runner’s amenity kit during check-in. They’ll provide a map of the Hudson River running path, a pre-loaded iPod Shuffle complete with sports watch and headphones, and an energy bar and sports drink for you to enjoy after your run.
Ritz Carlton Central Park – Each view room comes complete with telescopes, and books on birdwatching.
The Library Hotel – Borrow any of the hotel’s 6,000+ books and read them at leisure in your room. If you want to take a break from reading, they offer a free wine and cheese reception every evening from 5-8pm.
Andaz 5th Avenue – The bounty changes often, but currently guests can choose between a local Brooklyn chocolate bakery treat, a New York related magnet, or a tube of antibacterial hand gel. There are free water bottles, made-to-order coffee, and non-alcoholic drinks in the lobby. Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks in the minibar are also free. If you’d like a nightcap, free wine is offered from 6 to 9pm each evening.
W New York – Order a cocktail at the downtown or Lexington location lounge between 1pm and 3pm on Fridays, and receive a free summer tote bag designed by Shantell Martin filled with goodies. Some of the treats include Kiehl’s Super Fluid UV Defense Sunscreen, Never Hungover hangover prevention, Amazon Coconut Water, and Sugarfina Candy Cubes. Supplies are limited.
What’s your favorite NYC hotel perk/freebie? If you’ve come across something cool, I’d love to hear about it.
I’d be grateful if you’d follow me on Twitter!
Yay! I didn’t know about the treats at the Andaz! My daughter and I were there last year and didn’t hear about the chocolate/magnet/hand gel possibility. We’ll be back in a few months (can hardly wait!) Do I need to ask about the treats at the front desk?
Hi Kendra, they’re given during check-out, so make sure to ask at the front desk if they don’t mention it. Have a great stay!
