Hotel Review: Park Hyatt Zurich

Zurich is a lively city, especially in the summer. People enjoy spending time by the river, the lake, and there are wonderful restaurants all over the city. The Park Hyatt Zurich is known for being one of the most expensive Hyatts around, which makes it an excellent place to use Hyatt Gold Passport points.

Pulling up to the hotel, a bellhop greeted me warmly and led me to the reception area. Check in was quick and flawless. As a Hyatt Diamond, I have stayed at this property before and haven’t yet been lucky enough to get an upgrade without using a confirmed certificate. This time was just a one night stay and I crossed my fingers but again, I only received the Standard Park King Room I had booked. The check-in hostess was kind though, walked me to my room, and gave me a little tour before wishing me a pleasant stay.

Just inside the door there was a table in the entryway, with a Nespresso coffee machine. All the colors of the coffee pods were intact, and clean cups and saucers were lined up.

A welcome amenity of fresh fruit had been left on a table near the bed.

The room was decorated in warm tones, with green accents.

In addition to a work space and cabinet, there was also a vanity table and chair.

A 110 wall outlet was something I was glad to see, as this made it easy for me to plug in my electronics.

There was an advanced model Bang & Olufsen TV, which swiveled every which way.

The bathroom had a spacious counter plus a small shelf. There was a TV embedded in the mirror.

The distinctive toiletries by perfumer Blaise Mautin that I had enjoyed from my previous stays had been replaced.

The new toiletries are by Laura Tonnato, which are a little too strongly scented for my liking.

A small plant gave the bathroom a homey feel.

The toilet room was offset with a bright color.

The bathtub had a neat feature that allowed the bather privacy by way of sliding doors, or an open view into the bedroom.

A satchel of bath salts, bath mitt, and soap had been carefully laid out.

A heated towel rack stood near the rain shower, complete with fluffy oversized towels and two bathrobes.

The bed was dressed with Italian sheets, and the pillows had just the right amount of feathers. A great bed goes a long way towards a happy hotel stay, and this one was extremely comfortable.

Next to the bed a bottle of water and glass had been placed.

The view from the windows was either streetside or courtyard. I had chosen the courtyard view, which was quiet and pretty. The hotel is a couple blocks away from the lake, but since it is in the middle of the city views are hard to come by.

The temperature controls were simple to use and the intuitive lighting below was conveniently located bedside.

Going downstairs the next morning, breakfast was served in the lounge which looked cozy and welcoming.

The buffet was extensive, but as I had only a small appetite that morning I chose just a few items.

The pineapple was fresh and juicy, the croissant was light and flaky, and the butter creamy. I’d picked up a container of Amsel-Spitz, which I was told was a local yogurt. It turned out to be delicious!

I thought the Park Hyatt in Zurich was great, and I would definitely stay here again. The bed was extremely comfortable, the staff was warm and helpful, and I enjoyed being within walking distance to many places. There were touches of quality and professionalism everywhere, from the silverware at breakfast to the personable check-in.
