How to Pick a Room at the Sheraton Frankfurt Airport Hotel & Conference Center
Frankfurt is a great airport to transfer through to many far-flung destinations. There are several hotels you can stay at during a layover, but the Sheraton Frankfurt Airport Hotel & Conference Center is one of the closest and most convenient. With over 1000 rooms located in two towers, the basic room types are labeled Classic and Superior. In addition to the usual requests ie. away from the elevator, high floor, as a guest with SPG Platinum status you’ll most likely be offered a Jr. Suite in the older Tower, or a Club room in the newly refurbished Tower. I recently stayed in both room types and will review them/compare so you’ll have a good idea of which room type will be best for you.
The first room type I’ll review is the Jr Suite.
Leaving reception, instead of heading to the closest bank of elevators I walked around to the second set which was further away.
Once I got to my floor, the room was all the way at the end of the hall. This was good because it was nice and quiet, but it took a total of about 15 minutes to get from reception to the room.
Once inside, I saw that the furniture was outdated but there was plenty of seating. There were lots of lights, and the switches all worked fine.
A cordless phone was there so I could call the front desk from anywhere in the room.
At around 475 square feet the suite was pretty well-sized. The setup would be especially good for a couple where one person wanted to work out in the sitting room while the other person caught up on some sleep.
There were good-sized windows but I didn’t hear any noise from outside.
The bathroom was clean and had a shower/tub combo.
The only place I could find an American outlet for 110 voltage was in the bathroom.
There was both an overhead and handheld shower.
Standard Sheraton amenities were provided.
The sink was wide but not very deep, and there wasn’t a lot of room on either side of the counter for my toiletries.
The bedroom was located through french doors. Even though the bed was old, it was still comfortable. It did tend to sag in the middle though once I was laying down.
There was a flat screen TV on a low table near the window.
There was plenty of storage space, with three separate wardrobes.
Lighting controls near the bed were handy.
Getting to the Club lounge from the room took longer than usual, since I first had to go down the hallway, take the elevator down, walk over to the other elevator to get to the other tower, and then up and over.
Good to go –
+ Large bedroom and separate sitting room
+ Steps away from Terminal
+ Room was clean and smelled fresh
Good to know –
– Furniture was old and outdated
– Not many outlets for charging
– The website says that the Jr. Suite room type comes with a 30 EUR food & beverage voucher, though this was not mentioned/offered to me during check-in.
Stay tuned for the second part, where I’ll review a Club room in the refurbished Tower.
