Hotel Review: Le Méridien Chicago Oakbrook Center Part II

Each Le Meridien hotel has a bar/restaurant named after the Longitude that specifies the east-west position that it lies on. The one at this hotel is called Longitude 87.
It opens at 6am and has a breakfast offering, lunch, and later on, cocktails.
Last month I wrote about Le Meridien’s new signature eclairs, which you can find by clicking here. This hotel’s special one is salty peanut flavored.
The hotel has two ballrooms that can be used separately or joined together. If you were to look at both together from above, the pattern on the floor is a satellite representation of people walking through Union Station downtown. The cushy chairs seem like they would make any event more comfortable.
In keeping with the big-city feel, the boardroom features art on the wall that consists of pictures of other boardrooms downtown.
Moving on to the other rooms and suites, I was pleased to learn that all room types at this Le Méridien include illy coffee machines.
Once the suites are available for stays, two of them will be used as spa suites for treatments, featuring a heated lounger and deep soaking tub. I was excited to get a sneak peek even though they are not quite ready for use.
The regular rooms are about 320 square feet, and the suites are double the size at 642. There are 7 total suites at the property, located at the far end of the upper floors. The décor is modern, with a big city feel.
The sitting room was quite large, with a leather sofa, coffee table, and one of the 46″ TVs.
Off to the side of the sitting room was a dining room with seating for five.
The bathrooms have deep soaking tubs and a large walk in shower. The presidential suite also includes dual showerheads.
The bedroom layout was very similar to the regular rooms, albeit a big larger. Similar minibar, snack offerings, and TV. Next to the TV there’s also a wardrobe in the suites.
The hotel has a Spanish restaurant called El Tapeo which seats 90, and is now open. Click here to be taken directly to their website which includes menus.
Originally when the hotel opened, the price was hovering around $200. The location is next to a mall, the service was great, the room comfortable, the property gorgeous, and saw the price drop to around $100 a night which will make this indeed a reasonable place to stay. My only real concern is about the room walls, which tend to be thin and since it affected my sleep I gave the stay a low rating. I look forward to trying the property again though since the rest of my stay was great and it could be I was just unlucky in my room placement last time.
