New Hyatt Herald Square New York Property Now Open
Hyatt has opened a new Category 6 property in the Herald Square neighborhood of New York, located in Midtown Manhattan. Some rooms have views of the Manhattan skyline, including the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building.
The property boasts sustainable LED lighting, reclaimed wood beams, custom gold colored fabric wallpaper and bright colors. The lobby includes a coffee bar with beans from Stone Street Coffee Company, onsite market, library themed bar and dining area.
There are 123 guest rooms whose numbers are done in letterpress blocks, and the bathroom amenities are by C.O. Bigelow. Standard rooms are between 160 and 180 square feet, and suites are 224 square feet. In an interesting twist on bedside lighting, there’s a necklace style string of lanterns.
The Category 6 property requires 25,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points for a free night, or a Cash & Points rate of 12,500 points plus $150 per night.
I went to find out more info about transportation options, and it appears that their website is still being worked on.
The reservation side worked fine though. Using an arrival date of Saturday November 15, 2014 the price for one night at the best available rate was $349 while advance purchase was $332.

My wife and I debated staying at this one. I actually ended up reserving 2 nights at the NYC Park Hyatt with my Chase free nights, but we actually changed our travel dates, so we are changing our reservation to the 48 Lex. Hopefully we make the right choice.
