First Starwood Luxury Collection Hotel in Japan Announced
Starwood revealed today that the Suiran hotel in Kyoto will be the first Luxury Collection Hotel brand property in Japan, due to open in March 2015. The hotel will have just 39 rooms that will reflect traditional Ryokan style, and the property will have a spa, restaurant and lobby lounge.
I haven’t seen any pictures yet but the suites will supposedly have private terraces and open air baths. Pricing for regular rooms is expected to start around 60,000 Yen (about $500).
It is listed on Starwood’s luxury property website but is not bookable just yet.
The property is in the Arashiyama district on part of the Tenryuji Temple grounds. Two original structures will be preserved at the new property, “Enmei-kaku” built in 1899 and “Hasshoken” built in 1910.
Suiran is adjacent the Hozugawa River, Kameyama Park and Tenryuji and Hogonin Temples.
