Promo: 1,000, 3,000 or 5,000 Bonus Expedia+ Points
I received an email from Expedia+ Rewards yesterday that had a title of “Surprise! See our holiday gift to you”. A picture of a present had a caption of, “Will you get 1,000, 3,000 or 5,000 bonus points!” I don’t use Expedia a lot but free points are great! It immediately reminded me of the bonus 1,000 Gold Passport Points that Hyatt gave as a thank-you to card holders, which you can read about here.
I thought it sounded pretty cool so I followed the link provided in the email.
I was then prompted to sign in to Expedia, and was taken to a page that showed me….my account info and a page of special offers? I was confused.
I scrolled all the way down, and found my special offer – if I booked a +VIP Access hotel I’d get 1,000 bonus Expedia+ points.
Thinking I had ended up on the wrong page since the email had said “Surprise! See our holiday gift to you”, I was still looking for free points as some sort of holiday thank you. I went back and tried the process again but alas, there were no free bonus points to be had, just the 1,000 bonus Expedia+ points when booking by December 22, 2014 and staying by January 12, 2015.
Your experience may be different and since the promotion says you can get between 1,000 and 5,000 points maybe others will get a higher number.

It’s a decent offer, but I felt slightly let down. Yes, scrolling down in my email it clarified that it was just a promotion but the email came across as being a gift rather than something that was just another promotion.
