Away from home and missing your four legged furry pooch or your soft-as-a-bunny cat? Many hotels keep onsite pet mascots to make you feel more at home. You can usually give them a pat on the head or treat, and some hotels even let you walk them. Here are 5 of the cutest.
I met the little charmer above at Hyatt House Seattle Bellevue. Her name was Goober, and she is more than happy to be in the limelight though she got so excited during her photo shoot it was tough for her to sit still.
Carly and Catie Copley at the Fairmont Copley Plaza love children and meeting guests. Catie was trained as a guide dog, and you can schedule an appointment with her via the Concierge to take her for a walk or run.

4. Hotel Monaco Portland’s Daphne

The Hotel Monaco Portland in Oregon welcomed their newest pet hotel mascot Daphne from the Oregon Humane Society. Upon accepting her role at the hotel she even had her own celebrity welcome at her Dog-utante Ball just one year ago. She now holds the title of Director of Pet Relations and stays girly with her pearl studded collar but loves to hike and run.

The Algonquin Hotel in NYC took in a cat in 1923, and the hotel has had a kitty pet mascot ever since, rescued from animal shelters. Matilda won Cat of the Year in 2006 at the Westchester Cat Show, and has her own email address – matildaalgonquincat@algonquinhotel.com. She has her own assistant, and there’s even a hotel package where guests get a welcome note from Matilda, along with a replica stuffed doll and a book called Fabulous Felines.

the L’Auberge Del Mar in Southern California was being renovated and the hotel staff took in a little lost dog named Buttercup. Her owner was found but once she had puppies the hotel was given one. They named the dog Sophie, and she greets guests and pets staying at the hotel. Sophie even has her own Facebook page.

In the 1930’s, the General Manager of The Peabody Memphis went on a hunting trip with one of his buddies. When they returned, they thought it would be funny if they put live duck decoys in the hotel’s fountain. The response was overwhelming, and soon five Mallard ducks took the place of the decoys. A tradition that has been going on since those early days, the Peabody ducks march with help from the Duckmaster from their Royal Duck Palace on the roof down to the hotel lobby’s marble fountain every day at 11am and 5pm.
The ducks are quite famous, having appeared on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, Sesame Street when Bert and Ernie celebrated Rubber Ducky Day and The Oprah Winfrey Show. To learn more about the ducks or book your stay at the hotel click here.
