Want to Be a Star? Here’s Your Chance With Aloft Hotels
The feed for Marriott’s weekly eBreaks seems to be having issues this morning, so until it is fixed here is some news from Aloft Hotels.
Aloft is searching worldwide for a yet-unknown musical star. Project: Aloft Star is in its 6th year and now through September 12, 2015 unsigned bands and singers from North America and Latin America can submit an original song and photo to LiveAtAloftHotels.com for their chance at stardom.
The prize? Two finalists will receive a trip to New York, the chance to perform live in front of an audience at an Aloft Hotel, 3 nights at a hotel, roundtrip coach flights to New York, ground transportation, and a coaching session.
The Grand Prize Winner Star will also receive a professional recording session with a top music producer, 50,000 Starpoints to use at any SPG hotel while on tour, an invitation to perform during the 2016 Live at Aloft Hotels concerts, and an imaging session with a stylist.
The contest is already in full swing in Asia and Germany in partnership with Rolling Stone and MTV Asia. Once the entry period is closed for all areas in September, an expert panel of judges will select 5 semi-finalists from each to go on to the next round of competition.
Singer/Songwriter Ingrid Michaelson will host Mentoring Mondays each week, and you can post a message to her Facebook page using #ProjectAloftStar to receive musical guidance.
After a decision has been made by the panel, the semi-finalists will be featured on LiveAtAloftHotels.com and fans can vote for their favorite online using #DownToFive. The panel will then select two finalists to go on to the final round in New York City for a Sing Off which will happen in late October.
Here’s how to enter –
Go to LiveAtAloftHotels.com which happens to redirected to the official entry page on Facebook, and also sneakily requires all entrants to like Aloft’s Facebook page first.
Complete the registration on the application, including your email address. Upload one audio file of an original song written and created by you, as well as a photo. You must be at least 18 years old at the time of entry, and can not already by under contract with a record label.
Here’s a link to the official contest rules.
Aloft Hotels has had a history of providing a soundtrack in their hotels that reflects the passion of their guests. Sometimes there’s a live acoustic performance, and past bands have included Better Then Ezra, Green River Ordinance, Langhorne Slim and The Lumineers.
