Ritz-Carlton Reserve Coming to Bermuda
Ritz-Carlton has just announced that they’ll be developing a new Ritz-Carlton Reserve property in Bermuda, under a long term management agreement with George’s Bay Hotel Ltd and George’s Bay Residences Ltd.
Ritz-Carlton Reserve properties are on the smaller, more intimate side with less rooms and usually in great locations. This new hotel will be no exception. The property will be situated on over 2.5 miles of exclusive shoreline which includes a peninsula into the Great Sound.
It is expected to open in 2018.
This will be the third Ritz-Carlton Reserve in the region, with the first being the Dorado Beach (opened in 2012) and the the Puerto Los Cabos, also expected to open in 2018.
Anticipating tourist growth, the new luxury hotel will certainly be a welcome addition to the roughly 2 dozen other properties in Bermuda. As far as chain hotels go for points redemption possibilities in Bermuda, options are currently slim. There’s just the Fairmont Southampton or the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club (a Fairmont managed hotel).
The hotel is not listed on Ritz-Carlton’s website just yet but stay tuned for updates.
While I am sure this new Reserve location will be fantastic, I am unsure if it will be of any value for Ritz Carlton/Marriott rewards members. All current reserves do not participate in the rewards program and members cannot earn or redeem points at Reserve hotels. I would hope that the RC reverses this policy as it is quite a disappointment for this RC Plat.
Anything is possible with the upcoming (possible) merger LuxTraveller. My fingers are crossed!
