Ritz Paris Finally Re-Opening in June
After years of waiting, the Ritz Paris finally has a date set for reopening, which is June 2016.
Founded in 1898 by Swiss hotelier César Ritz, the world famous Ritz Paris hotel nearly synonymous with luxury was the go-to place for fashionistas, royalty, politicians, and simply the well-heeled. It was also home to Coco Chanel, Marcel Proust and Ernest Hemingway.
In August 2012 the Ritz Paris shut down completely to do a full-scale renovation of everything from the electrical wiring to the addition of new suites and a private hotel entrance from an underground parking garage.
Although construction was delayed several times, in January 2016 everything seemed set for a mid-March reopening. With over $150 Million poured into the renovation, the world waited in eager anticipation.

Then, disaster struck. A fire ripped through the roof and reportedly gutted some of the luxury suites.
The fire pushed back the anticipated reopening, and an announcement was made that it would be sometime in June.
The Ritz Paris website now has a calendar showing guest room availability starting June 13, 2016. Haute Couture in Paris dates are July 3-7, 2016, and the Ritz Paris still shows availability for the night of July 6, 2016.
Room rates start at 1300 EUR a night, topping out at the opulent 15,000 EUR per night Suite Vendôme with a view of none other than the Place Vendôme.
The hotel is sure to regain its footing as a ultra-luxury property in Paris. Will you book a stay at the new Ritz Paris?
