Coming Soon: Four Seasons Ultra Luxury Maldives Private Island

I loved my stay at the Park Hyatt Maldives. The secluded island and villa, clear water, great snorkeling and relaxing atmosphere all made for an amazing vacation.

There are a bunch of other great hotel options in the Maldives, and the Four Seasons already has two resorts and a liveaboard ship. Coming this fall, Four Seasons will also have its own private island – the Maldives Private Island at Voavah, Baa Atoll.

The Baa Atoll is unique in that it was the Indian Ocean’s first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. It is made up of 13 inhabited islands and contains the world’s largest population of manta rays, as well as nesting sites for hawksbill and green turtles. Four Seasons even has a page with the best dates for manta ray sightings in the area.

With just seven guest rooms on the private island (and a total of 22 guests), the entire five-acre island is yours to explore with a dive center, spa, two-story beach house and a 62 foot yacht called the Voavah Summer. You also get exclusive entry in the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.

The shared beach house has a kitchen, library, lounge, pool deck, gym, dining room and living room.

Dining is all personalized, with options including poolside barbecues, in-villa dining, and theme nights such as Lobster Celebration and Madivian Fisherman’s Feast.

This is the first private island in Four Season’s portfolio.

To reach the island you’ll need to take a 40 minute seaplane ride from Malé International Airport. Here’s a diagram from Four Seasons’ website –

No pricing is available on their website, but I would imagine it to be pretty hefty considering you get unlimited access to a yacht and entire island during your stay. The booking page says that the island rate varies per season and includes accommodations for up to 22 guests. All water sports, diving, fishing, and the use of the private yacht are included.

Interestingly, the seaplane transfers to the island are not included. I’d have thought that the cost would have been rolled into the price for the Four Seasons private island experience. At the time I was at the Park Hyatt Maldives, the seaplane transfer was $490 per person which was pretty steep and if the rates for the Four Seasons are around $500 per person when you have 22 guests it adds up fast ($11,000 just to get from Male to the island and back!).

Meals and alcoholic beverages are also not included, and come in the form of a full-board meal plan per person.

Because there are so few guest rooms, the island is great for intimate weddings or fancy birthday parties and celebrations. The resort will have 24-hour security patrols and night-vision cameras.

The resort seems especially ideal for celebrities, which is almost certainly what the Four Seasons has in mind with this ultra luxury experience.
