Marriott’s Choose Your Path MegaBonus Promo Clarified
Marriott has their fall Megabonus promotion up, and you can register starting now for stays between September 15, 2016 and January 15, 2017.
Last year’s MegaBonus offered a targeted bonus after two stays, but this year you get to choose if you want to go “faster or further”.
The choices are:
Option 1: 5,000 bonus points after your second paid stay (maxing out at 5,000 bonus points)
Option 2: 10,000 bonus points after every 10 paid nights (maxing out at 50,000 bonus points)
Even though you have until December 15, 2016 to register, you must choose your path and register before any qualifying stays. This means that you cannot stay a couple times to see how your travel pattern will go, and then choose the path/bonus that best fits. You’ll need to decide that in advance.
Which one is the best option? That depends on your travel pattern. If you plan on having just a couple stays during the promotion period, the first option maxing out at 5,000 bonus points is probably the one you’ll gravitate towards.
Road warriors will most likely find the 10,000 bonus points after 10 paid nights to be the best bet. It has the highest overall bonus earning potential, though 50 nights is a lot required to earn 50,000 bonus points (the equivalent of a free night at a property in the highest category).
Ritz-Carlton properties are participating in the promotion so your stays there will also qualify. Other participating brands include: JW Marriott®, EDITION®, Autograph Collection® Hotels, Renaissance® Hotels, AC Hotels by Marriott(SM), Marriott® Hotels & Resorts, Gaylord Hotels®, Courtyard by Marriott®, SpringHill Suites by Marriott®, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott®, Residence Inn by Marriott®, TownePlace Suites by Marriott®, Moxy and Marriott Vacation Club®.
While this isn’t a fantastic enough promotion to sway most folks from their current travel pattern, bonuses are still a good thing especially if you will be staying at Marriott properties during the promo period anyhow. You might even throw a couple extra nights in if you are close to earning a free night at the property of your choice.

Tip: Since the stay dates for this promo don’t start until September, I wouldn’t be in a rush to register until thinking about which option is the best fit. If you aren’t sure, it would be wise to bookmark this page so you can return later and register once you’re ready to choose.

Registration is required. Marriott Rewards® members must choose a single offer and register by December 15, 2016. Earning for the chosen offer will occur for stays or nights (depending on which offer is selected) made between September 15, 2016 and January 15, 2017, at participating Marriott® properties. Members can select offer 1: earn 5,000 bonus points after two (2) paid stays – maximum 5,000 bonus points.
