Have You Won an Instant Prize with SPG’s Design Hotels Game?

SPG has a fun instant win online game going on right now called “Introducing Design Hotels”, which you can enter once a day until December 18, 2015. Each registration also gives you one entry into the grand prize drawing for 5 free nights and 50,000 Starpoints.

It’s similar to SPG’s “Open the World of SPG” instant win game, if you’re familiar with that one.

A plus for those outside of the US is that the contest is open to legal residents of the United States (including the District of Columbia), as well as Canada (excluding Quebec), Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, the Philippines, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and Vietnam.

Here’s the breakdown of prizes –

SPG is giving away 185 free award nights which can be used at any participating properties in category 1-5, and 3,515 Starpoints awards in amounts that vary between 1,000 Starpoints and 10,000 Starpoints.

Unlike the “Open the World” game, there are no AMEX or Amazon Gift Cards.

The free night awards must be redeemed by March 31, 2016. Those win will receive Starpoints will have them added to their account within three weeks after the contest ends.

One huge Grand Prize of 50,000 Starpoints plus five free nights at any participating SPG property in Category 1-6 will be given after a random drawing on or around December 23, 2015.

After entering just my SPG number, I was taken to a page that had pictures of some Design Hotels properties on a slider bar.

While I’m happy about the Design Hotels brand being added to Starwood, I haven’t taken the time to look at all of their unique properties. This pic of the Ion Luxury Adventure Hotel, Selfoss, Iceland caught my eye and I’ll check it out afterwards –

I scrolled down, and came to a puzzle box where I was asked to rearrange the tiles so that they were in proper order.

Less than a minute later, the hotel came into view.

I waited, but nothing happened. I thought to myself, “now what?” I scrolled around and clicked links and read a lot about their Design Hotels but nothing more about my contest entry.

Finally deciding that something hadn’t worked right, I started over again. I went to the contest entry page and entered my SPG number again. The same puzzle was offered, which I solved in record time since I’d already seen it.

This time, when I finished the puzzle the screen quickly refreshed to show me that I was not an instant winner but would be entered into the grand prize drawing.
