Homewood Suites’ New Home Cooked Meals Program
Hotel room service is great, but there are times when you’ve been on the road for a while and just want to have a home cooked meal rather than yet another overpriced pasta primavera dish. Marriott added a healthy vending machine as a test at one of their Chicago locations, which I thought was great.
With the needs of frequent travelers in mind, Homewood Suites by Hilton has partnered with PeachDish (a meal kit delivery service) to test out a new program called “Home Cooked Meals”. If you’re staying at at one of the participating 22 Homewood Suites in Atlanta and Dallas through June 9, 2016 you’ll get 20% off the service.
The PeachDish order can be placed on a customized online page that will give you the option of small meals if you’re traveling solo or bigger meals if your family is in tow. You’ll have at least four menu options per week, and pre-portioned ingredients will be delivered right to your suite that can be prepared in the kitchen. You’ll also get discounts on pricing for PeachDish Starter Kits, which include extra virgin olive oil, kosher sea salt, and tellicherry peppers with a pepper mill.
The cutoff for meals is 12:00am EST each Sunday, for delivery the following week.
Perusing PeachDish’s website I came across the Beef Hot Pot with Asian Greens, Ginger and Potatoes which looked like a great evening meal.
Although the press release didn’t indicate pricing, an article by the NY Times mentioned the new service and said the pricing will start at $50 for one meal with four servings, or for two meals that serve two. To me, that sounds comparable to room service pricing (assuming portions are small) plus you have to cook the meal yourself.
Still, it is worth noting that if you are pressed for time and don’t want to go to a grocery store this gives you the perfect portions of each ingredient to make the meal. You can stay right in your suite and the items are brought to you.
Plus you can customize however you want, and leave out any ingredients you don’t care for. This is harder to accomplish with room service since menus don’t list all ingredients and you might find yourself picking bits of pepper or greens out of your meal.
Will you try Homewood Suites’ new Home Cooked Meals option?
