Review: Hilton San Francisco Airport Bayfront
I had a quick night’s stay at the Hilton San Francisco Airport Bayfront booked. Self parking was $20, so after getting across the bridge and to the hotel I pulled into the underground garage and found a place easily. I’d stayed at the hotel in the past, but perhaps because it was a weekday the parking lot wasn’t as full as usual.
An elevator took me up to the street level which was close to the lobby. I had chosen to use mobile check-in so the whole process was easy.
The lobby was colorful, with artwork and bright multicolored lights. After checking in I rolled my suitcase towards the elevators and noticed a cubbyhole holding fruit. What a nice touch. A sign said the fruit was $2.00 though, so I put the banana back. I’m not sure if it was $2.00 for one or for one of each but didn’t want one bad enough to go back to the desk to ask for clarification.
I passed a Pooch Pit stop next, which was a cute area where pet owners could stop and get a treat for their four-legged furry friends.
The hallway was well-lit, and my room was just a few away from the elevator.
The bathroom was just inside the door.
Peter Thomas Roth amenities were featured.
The shower/tub combo unfortunately had a straight shower curtain so there was no extra room there.
The closet was stocked with an iron, safe and extra pillow/blanket.
I was surprised to see that rather than having central air there was an individual unit next to the window. I didn’t turn it on as the air was cool enough outside and I didn’t want the extra noise.
The view looked out over the parking entryway and street, but it wasn’t noisy. There was also a serene view out over the bay, and the window offered a great vantage point for watching the incoming flights land.
The “desk†spanned almost the full length of the room, and there were three outlets that were at the convenient top drawer level of a chest.
A letter on the desk stated that overnight and Sunday laundry service was no longer available, though they were hoping to have the issue corrected soon. The letter was dated February 4, about a month and a half before my stay so not sure how popular this feature was before they stopped offering.
The in-room dining and guest services book were laid out right on the desk. At one end of the desk there was a space for holding luggage, that had a couple deep drawers as well.
Above the bed was a picture of San Francisco, which added a nice colorful touch to the room.
I was glad to find an outlet on each bedside table’s lamp stand, and one of them also had a coffee maker. The other one held the phone and an alarm clock.
The Executive Club on the 15th floor had breakfast from 6-10am, but because my flight left so early the next morning I had to pass. I’d had breakfast there before though and found there to be a pretty good array of options. The host checking me out mentioned that the property also took part in the Huanying program so I was welcome to grab a hard-boiled egg before leaving if I wanted but I declined.
This hotel stay was just what I needed. The room was quiet and smelled fresh, the view over the bay was pretty, the rate was reasonable and the close proximity to SFO Airport (4 miles away) along with the location on a quiet road made this a good choice. Since there is a complimentary shuttle between the airport and the hotel, if I hadn’t wanted to pay the self-park fee I could have always turned in the rental car and just used the shuttle instead.
