Amazon Echo Coming To All Guest Rooms at Wynn Las Vegas
Thanks to everyone who entered the 12 Days of Giveaways, and the winners will be drawn and announced in the coming days. I spent yesterday surrounded by family, food and fun, hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, and wish a Happy Hanukkah to those observing.
Wynn Las Vegas has partnered with Amazon and announced plans earlier this month to outfit each of the 4,748 guest rooms at the Wynn Las Vegas with Amazon Echo.
For those who are new to Echo, it is a voice-controlled speaker that allows you to give commands hands-free. There is a home version that some readers will be familiar with, and no word on if the hotel version will vary in appearance but you’ll be able to control temperature, music, lights, TV, and drapes by way of interactions with Alexa, the voice service.
Instead of having to reach for your tablet, you can simply inquire out loud what the news headlines of the day are, or adjust the heat setting up while you are still cozy under the bed comforter.
Some Starwood Aloft properties offer iPads to guests with custom software enabling voice-activated controls, but Wynn says this is the first time that a resort will offer full room voice-activated functionality.
Here’s a YouTube video of Steve Wynn discussing the new technology addition –

The Wynn Las Vegas hopes to have all the rooms kitted by this coming summer (2017).
I haven’t had a chance to use voice-activated controls in a hotel yet, but according to the study done by Hotels.com about hotels in the future it is only a matter of time before they are everywhere. I expect that as the Wynn tests this out, other hotels will be watching to see how it goes. From there, we might see many more sign on to offer something similar to guests.
Have you used voice-activated commands in a hotel before?
