Wyndham Airlines Transfer Devaluation
On January 31, 2014 Wyndham suddenly changed the rate at which points could be transferred to airlines.
Last week you could transfer 8.000 Wyndham Rewards points to airlines and receive 3,200 miles, this week 6,000 points transfer into 1,200 miles. While the redemption value was previously .4 airline miles now it is .2 so the value has been chopped in half!
Wyndham gave absolutely no advance notice of this program change. Even though they reserve the right to make changes at any time, I think this is unfair to their members. Some of the more trustworthy hotel chains like Hyatt and Starwood give advance notice to their members so they can plan accordingly. Thankfully, when they devalued their rewards chart last March I moved all of my Wyndham Rewards points out of my account so when I logged in today I saw –
If I did still have Wyndham Rewards points, I would not consider transferring them into airline miles but rather redeem them for a stay instead.
