Renaissance Hotels’ Global Day of Discovery Events 2015
What do Aerosmith tickets, live performances by Grammy Award-nominated Robin Thicke, french macarons and night markets have in common? They’re all part of Renaissance Hotels’ fourth annual Global Day of Discovery on June 11, 2015 where each of their 160 properties around the world will help guests “Live Life to Discover” with free and exclusive events. Here’s a closer look at some of the festivities across the globe.
The Global Day of Discovery on June 11, 2015 is Renaissance Hotels’ annual celebration that includes art exhibits, special culinary offerings and music events. A few of the events are invite only but most are for hotel guests or open to everyone.
Here’s a sampling of the fun events –
New York
Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel
Time: 5:00 PM – 11:59 PM
Celebrate the Tony-nominated hit Broadway musical “Something Rotten!” with cast members, live entertainment, and as the website says, a “special surprise”. Autographs? The chance to sing and dance?
Phoenix
Renaissance Phoenix Glendale Hotel & Spa
Time: 5:00 – 9:00 PM
If you’re an Aerosmith fan, Phoenix is the place to be on June 11! The Renaissance Phoenix Glendale Hotel & Spa isn’t having just a simple food and beverage evening, but a series of events (80’s rock tunes from a live band, painting expo, etc.) that includes the chance to win tickets to an Aerosmith concert!
Paris
Renaissance Paris Vendôme Hotel
Time: 5:30 – 8:00 PM
Les Marquis de La Durée (the famous french macarons house) will hold a private pastry course for attendees. There will also be live music, drinks, and a famous fashion photographer in attendance (Guilhem de Castelbajac).
Sonoma
The Lodge at Sonoma Renaissance Resort & Spa
Time: 11:00 – 7:30 PM
The event kicks off with a scavenger hunt around Sonoma, including stops at Hawkes Winery, Buergers & Vine, Walt Wines, and Roche Winery. Afterwards, Petroni Vineyards & Pangloss Cellars will host a wine tasting with live music, there will be a wine blending activity wit Ravenswood Winery, and all participants who complete the scavenger hunt will be entered in a raffle to win a two-night stay.
Hong Kong
Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel
Time: 6:00 – 8:00 PM
A “Cucumber Limeade” drink will start the festivities, which include free selections of local food and drinks at the night market.
Note that the event at this property is by invitation only, so if you are staying at the property you might want to contact concierge if you are interested in attending.
Amsterdam
Time: 6:00 – 9:00 PM
This will be an opportunity to see inside the beautiful 17th century famed Koepelkerk with easily recognizable copper dome. You’ll also enjoy drinks, food and entertainment.

New Orleans
Renaissance New Orleans Pere Marquette Hotel
Time: 6:00 – 9:00 PM
While local artist Anne Stackel creates a piece in the lobby, live Jazz music will be played by the band and finger foods will be provided by onsite restaurant MiLa. A cocktail demo and tasting station will be hosted by the resident mixologist, and adult snowballs (snowballs with N.O. Rum) will be served.
Dallas
Time: 6:00 – 9:00 PM
Ray Johnston Band, an up and coming Texas country band will play live on the hotel’s City View Terrace while you enjoy the view of Dallas’ skyline. Local beers, spirits, wines and food will be featured.
Note that this event is open to everyone, not just hotel guests.
Sanya, China
Renaissance Sanya Resort & Spa
Time: 6:00 – 9:00 PM
If you’ve wanted to experience the diet, culture, drink and rituals of the Wuzhi Mountain area, here’s your chance. Local teas, herbs, sweet sticky rice and honey products will be served while you take in local music and dance performance. Night market shopping will also be an option.
Note that this event is for hotel guests only, and is at a cost of 128 Chinese Yuan, or about 27 USD.
Los Angeles
Renaissance Los Angeles Airport Hotel
Time: 12:00 – 7:00 PM
Stop by for a live concert by a top 4 finalist on American Idol, Hollie Cavanagh. Marriott’s teleporter has finally made it to LA, and will let you travel without leaving town. You can feel wind, mist and heat and then share with your friends on social media.
Seattle
Time: 4:30 – 6:30 PM
Here’s a chance to see artwork created by refugees. Local artist Brooke Westlund whose paintings are on guestroom walls, will display her process. Live music with DJ Mixxtress’ beats will accompany Discovery Hour punch which will be made live during a Beverage Ritual event. Chef Erick Gonzalez’s hors d’oeuvres will be passed out while you explore the newly transformed Madison Ballroom.
Chicago
Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel
Time: 7:00 – 10:00 PM
The hotel’s $22 million renovation is being kicked off at ‘The Happiest Hour’ block party which includes live performances by Grammy Award Nominee Robin Thicke, R&B crooner Natalie La Rose, and DJ HXLT. Guests will also get a first look at all the updates that were made to the hotel.
