Redeeming IHG points at some of the upper end properties is a great way to maximize these points. In fact, a couple years back, reader SJ purchased 3 of the 100,000 point packages and was able to stay at the InterContinental Le Grand Paris for a romantic anniversary.
I was dismayed to look over the list today and find that IHG had not only increased a bunch of properties to require more points for redemption, they also upped the top redemption levels to 55,000 and 60,000. It was done quietly without any fanfare, but the extra points required are kind of a big deal.
What delightfully unique hotel was chosen as Kimpton’s first property outside of the US?
I was disappointed to see that the most recent list didn’t include any InterContinental properties at all, nor any of my favorite Crowne Plaza hotels (like the one in Times Square of New York, or even the Crowne Plaza at Toronto Airport in Canada that has quiet zones great for jet-lagged travelers).
PointBreaks can be a great way to save on some of IHG’s properties. At the upper end, some of IHG’s Intercontinental hotels redeem at a 50,000 point level yet every night in a PointBreaks property is just 5,000 points.
It looks a little crazy, but I bet selfies on a pancake will be a hit especially with Millennials. In fact, visitors have already been making pancake selfies, taking a selfie with their pancake selfie, and posting it on social media sites. Is that considered a triple selfie?
