Hyatt has made the announcement that they will be opening the first Andaz hotel in Canada in 2016. The property will be located in Ottawa, Ontario which will also be the first Hyatt brand hotel in the city.

Hyatt entered into a contract with Claridge Homes, and the property will be called Andaz Ottawa Byward Market located at 325 Dalhousie Street. The hotel will have 200 guest rooms, including 3 Jr Suites, 4 Standard Suites and 1 Executive Suite with a fireplace and 500+ square foot terrace. Sounds great, but obviously suite upgrades will be tough to come by with only 8 total.

The hotel is also expected to have a rooftop bar and lounge and 6 meeting/conference rooms.

David Tarr, Senior VP of Development – Americas for Hyatt said, “Andaz Ottawa Byward Market will bring to life the brand’s mission of creating inspiring, indigenous experiences and immersing guests into the destination’s local culture. We believe Andaz Ottawa Byward Market will convey the vibrant, international spirit of Canada’s capital city.”

Canada’s 150th birthday celebration will take place in 2017, and the plan is for guests staying at the Andaz Ottawa Byward Market to enjoy easy access to restaurants, shops, light rail transit stops and tourist attractions. The hotel will also host events featured through the brand’s cultural program called Andaz Salon.
