Hyatt in conjunction with Rael Development Corporation has announced plans to open a new Andaz hotel in Palm Springs, California. Construction is slated to begin early this summer, with the hotel set to open in late 2016.

The hotel offering panoramic views of the San Jacinto Mountains will consist of 150 guestrooms, 17 of which will be suites. The property will be built so that the small bungalows and buildings will surround the two outdoor pools and gardens. The first floor will have approx. 25,000 square feet of retail space, along with meeting facilities. Plans include a spa, fitness center, restaurant and poolside bar.

Mayor Steve Pougnet said, “The City of Palm Springs is absolutely thrilled the Hyatt Hotels Corporation will bring the Andaz brand to downtown Palm Springs…Palm Springs is experiencing a historic renaissance as one of the hippest, most happening resort destinations in the country and we look forward to breaking ground on the Andaz Palm Springs in April or May of this year.”

The Andaz Palm Springs will be located about 2 miles from Palm Springs airport, making it easy to reach for those not in the drive-to market. It will be adjacent to the Uptown Design District, and within walking distance of the Village Center and the restaurants, shops and galleries along Palm Canyon Drive.
