MGM Grand is currently offering a promotion called “Double Down on your appetite” where you can get a room for $70 including two buffet passes per night which are good for breakfast, lunch or dinner. One interesting aspect of the promo is that the terms & conditions say it runs through August 30, 2016 though that may be a typo.

Choosing the random date of Monday September 7, 2015 (Labor Day) the price was actually just $56, less than the advertised rate of $75 and even when I added in the $32 mandatory resort fee and taxes it came to $88 including the buffet passes for 2.

Checking preferred pricing for MLife members, the same night’s rate was $49 before resort fee and taxes, so less than the promotional rate with a total of but it didn’t include the buffet. To see if the included buffet price was a good value I took a look at the prices.

For the random weekday I had selected (Sept. 7) the most expensive buffet was the dinner at $19.99 per person, so if taking advantage of two of those buffet passes the promotional Double Down on your appetite deal is better than even the lower MLife rate. To maximize the deal, you could try to find a weekend date and get the $29.99 dinner buffet instead but it looks like most weekend dates are much higher.

Here’s a booking link.

If you find a lower rate for the MGM Grand and want to stay there, sometimes you can find a half-off buffet deal at the “Coke Bottle” across from NYNY.
