Small Luxury Hotels of the World (or SLH for short) was created in 1989 and now has 500+ independent properties around the world. All of the properties are on the small side and considered luxury.

Their loyalty program is pretty straightforward and simple to use, and is just dubbed “The Club“, and there are just three different levels.

If you sign up to be a member before your first stay you will automatically be in their first tier, called “Special Member”. A complimentary room upgrade is possible though not confirmed, as it is based upon availability.

After just one stay, you reach their second tier, called “Loved Member”. At this point, daily complimentary breakfast for two is added to the list of benefits which is a pretty good deal considering it only takes one stay to get there. You also get late check-out (based on availability).

Right now, Small Luxury Hotels of the World is offering instant Loved Member status just for signing up.

Follow this link to sign up and all it takes is completion of a simple online form.

After your Loved Member status is activated, you’ll keep the complimentary tier for 12 months. If you stay one time within that period you’ll extend your Loved Member status for another year.

If you have five more stays in at least 2 of their properties, you’ll reach The Club’s top tier, which is Honoured Member. This is where you’ll get early check-in (based on availability), and arguably the most valuable benefit of all – a voucher code good for a free night at any Small Luxury Hotels property worldwide. For every 5 stays you complete after that you’ll get another free night voucher, and there is no limit to how many free nights you can earn.

This is the sweet spot of the SLH The Club loyalty program, as you can redeem at any property. There are a ton of locations to choose from around the world.

None of the properties are huge 400 room places either, and an example of the small size is the 26 guest room Palazzo Sant’ Angelo Sul Canal Grande.

If you are looking for a property to redeem a free night at, you can’t go wrong with the Diamonds Star of the East SLH property in Zanzibar, Tanzania. An example of phenomenal redemption value, rates hover at $1190 a night, all the rooms are villas, and come with a private plunge pool, Jacuzzi, and tropical garden (see photo screenshot above, taken from SLH’s website).
