Disney Unveils Plans for New Luxury Disneyland Resort Hotel

I love just about everything Disney. Little tykes singing along with the songs, the parks with their family-friendly fun, and even the overpriced mouse-eared snacks.

Local paper The Orange County Register has revealed Disney’s plans to open a fourth Disneyland Resort Hotel. The article says that Disneyland officials submitted the plans with hopes of taking advantage of the city’s policy that provides tax incentives to build luxury hotels.

If approved, the new hotel would be a four diamond rating with AAA. This would mean that Disney would need to spend $225,000 per guest per room, including $30,000 in furniture and fixtures in each room.

Of course, the new hotel would help Anaheim bring in more upper end hotel guests, as well as create thousands of jobs for locals. The new hotel would be designed by the same folks who design the rides at Disneyland, the Walt Disney Imagineering team. No theme has been mentioned set the new hotel, but it is possible it would have one.

Disneyland Resort Hotels come with the bonus of an extra hour in the Parks. While that may not seem like a long time, it can be a huge deal to get a jump on the lines and rides especially if visiting in the busier times or with tiny tots. There are currently three Disneyland Resort Hotels – Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Disneyland Hotel, and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel.

This property would be the first Disneyland hotel built in 20 years. The 700ish room hotel would occupy what is now the Downtown Disney parking lot. The plans include two swimming pools, a fitness center, kid’s play area, and a rooftop restaurant for prime viewing of the nightly fireworks over Sleeping Beauty’s Castle.

According to the OC Register the nightly rate is expected to be around $450.

If the proposal is approved, the project will start in 2018 and open in 2021.

I know the project hasn’t even been approved yet, but I’m still excited. Is anyone else with me?
