Expedia has a flash deal offering up to 50% off on bookings made by today at 2pm Pacific Time. While that isn’t unusual, they’ve added a 20% off coupon good for hotel bookings that can be an especially hot deal.

The dates of travel must be between August 26, 2016 and October 31, 2016 and to use the 20% off coupon you must be booking a hotel only rather than a package that includes flights or cars, etc.

Usually when there are coupons offered at Expedia most of the upper end hotel chains are excluded, but when I scoured the list this time I didn’t see one particular luxury brand. Four Seasons properties are included in the sale!

Four Seasons properties often have free breakfast or hotel credit offered when booked through parties like Virtuoso or Fine Hotels & Resorts, but in my experience the actual rate you find on third party booking sites like Expedia isn’t often lower than you can get through FHR or directly on Four Seasons’ website.

Looking at Expedia’s sale page I pulled up the highly coveted Four Seasons Hualalai in Hawaii.

Using the random weekdates of October 4-7 the rate was $795 for the Ocean Golf View Room, which is the introductory level (but still pretty amazing) room.

Four Seasons’ website lists the same rate.

The total for the three nights on Four Seasons’ website came to $2729.

Meanwhile over on Expedia I applied the 20% off coupon, and the total dropped easily to $2227, a savings of over $500.

Does the $500 savings outweigh the breakfast benefit or resort credit? That depends on your personal preferences, but you might be able to get Virtuoso or FHR to match the Expedia rate. Four Seasons has their own Best Rate Guarantee, but it just matches the lowest rate found elsewhere rather than giving a percentage or amount back.

You can use the 20% off on single night stays too, to maximize the savings.

Looking at the Four Seasons Hotel in Manhattan, NY the rate for a mid-week date in October came to $995.

The rate was the same on Expedia before the coupon.

Applying the coupon the total dropped by $199, which is more than you’d likely get in hotel credit if booking elsewhere.

Here is the link for Expedia’s flash sale page.

Use coupon code 8DPOPUP10 for 20% off.

When applying the coupon, make sure you click on the words in blue, “enter a coupon or promotion code” to get the box to drop down, before you enter your card details. This way you can see if your hotel/date is eligible for the 20% off.

The sale terms & conditions say that there is limited quantity and while supplies last. Plus the sale ends at 2pm PDT today. I know that only a small group of people will be wanting to drop the kind of cash that Four Seasons properties often go for, but the 20% off works at other properties than just Four Seasons, and this sale offers a discount for the specific group travelers looking to save on stays there. I hope some people will be able to use the coupon for their upcoming stays.
