Before I take trips out of the country I’m pretty good about doing a research about the place I’m going to and putting together lists of the places/experiences/foods I want to have while there. For whatever reason I don’t usually do quite as much research when traveling to places in the United States (though maybe I should).

I don’t know about you, but more than once I’ve returned back from a trip and someone says, “Ohhh, you were in XYZ city? You should have gone to XYZ restaurant/bakery/store while you were there!”

Yesterday I wrote about the Most Instagrammed Hotels in 2016. To give you a little jump on doing your own research for what’s around your hotel, here are the top 15 most Instagrammed bakeries in the United States from 2016 via Refinery 29. If you are staying at a nearby hotel you might be lucky enough to be within walking distance to some of these delicious and decadent treats. Croissants, donuts, cookies, pies, pastries and the like. Who can resist?

Just as with the most Instagrammed Hotels of 2016 these may or may not be the best bakeries, but they have definitely won a place in Instagrammers hearts in 2016.

I have a bit of a sweet tooth myself, and I’ve visited both Tartine Bakery and Extraordinary Desserts which I found to be deserving of top billing. I’ve also visited (and Instagrammed) the touristy but iconic Café du Monde while staying at the gorgeous Ritz-Carlton New Orleans.

Fellow BoardingArea blogger and friend Ed with Pizza in Motion is on a quest to try donuts everywhere he travels so I would be willing to bet that he’s been to more than one of these popular bakeries in the US.

How many of Instagram’s top 15 bakeries have you eaten at?
