New St. Regis Property in Venice Now Open
After a 25 million dollar refurbishment, the property formerly known as the San Clemente Palace in Venice has re-opened its doors as a St. Regis.
Called the The St. Regis Venice San Clemente Palace, it is located on San Clemente Island which was founded in 1131 to recover the spirit and soul (of weary travelers I imagine). It was also the starting point for pilgrims and soldiers sailing for the holy lands, and later became a military post. The hotel is 10 minutes from Piazza San Marco by way of boat.
Starwood’s website doesn’t have any pictures of the property yet, but there’s a website up for the new hotel.
There are 146 rooms, 14 acres of gardens, two bars, three restaurants, a 15th century church, fitness center, tennis court, swimming pool, and a 3 hole golf pitch & putt.
In keeping with my Italy series, I’m excited to be staying there a little later this summer and doing a review of the hotel. Leave a comment if you’d like me to focus on anything in particular.
As a Category 7 SPG property, I could have redeemed 30,000 Starpoints for a free night, but instead I went with the Cash & Points option, for 15,000 Starpoints + $275. The nightly rate for a regular room is 570 EUR, so it looks like a great redemption value.
