In Honor of Valentine’s Day, Club Carlson is offering a Romance Package at many of their Radisson properties which consists of a bottle of wine, champagne or sparkling cider and a dinner for two at either the hotel’s restaurant or a nearby restaurant. Is their Romance Package a good deal?

If you break out the price of  hotel rooms from the special items in hotel packages the cost sometimes ends up being more expensive than if you had just paid for each item individually, such as breakfast and drinks.

Since Valentine’s Day is coming up I used that date in my test search for those who have not yet made plans.

I searched the Los Angeles area for the night of February 14, 2015. Most hotels didn’t have the promotional rate available but the Radisson Hotel Chatsworth did, at $179 instead of the $129 best available rate.

Forgiving them the misspelling of the word “Valentine’s”, the package included dinner at Caprese restaurant which gets pretty good reviews. Click here to see Caprese’s regular menu, though for Valentine’s Day there is a Prix fixed menu. In this case, the price of a dinner at the restaurant for two would probably come out to be right around the same amount that you’d save by booking the package rather than just the best available rate and then paying separately for dinner. Some properties or restaurants might be different though, and of course the date of Valentine’s I would expect to be a bit higher than non-holiday dates.

Use promotional code RDROMAN when booking.

Here’s a booking link.

I wouldn’t book this package unless I was able to calculate out that the package savings would be much much greater than just booking a night at the hotel and doing the dinner by itself. I’m curious though, about Magic of Miles’ readers. Have you booked a package like this before? If so, did it turn out to be a good deal for you?
