Spa treatments at hotels can be a relaxing treat, but they can be overpriced. Seldom do local residents go to hotels just to get a spa treatment as they can often find a better rate somewhere else.

Hilton is hoping to change that and offer more incentives to use hotel spas, with their new global spa treatment membership. Called “The Spa Club”, it will offer local residents access to amenities at the Hilton nearest where they live. Hilton tried a pilot program with one property over the past three years, the Hilton Short Hills in New Jersey, and it apparently was popular enough that by the end of 2015 Hilton expects 30 spas around the world to participate in the new program.

Hilton’s Spa Club will allow members to receive one 60 minute massage or facial every month for at least 30% off the regular price.

The Short Hills property has a pdf with just a little detail about their spa membership program, and one drawback I find is that the facial or massage can only be redeemed Monday through Thursday –

I think the concept of having a Spa membership for travelers is potentially very interesting, as more and more people see the benefits of having regular massage/facials.

Hopefully with Hilton expanding the program they’ll offer the massages/facials during weekends too.

One part of the Spa Club that caught my eye is that members also get free hotel parking and access to the fitness center. At first my brain started calculating all the great ways you could use that membership to get free parking at an airport hotel while traveling, but it appears that those perks are only available on the date of the spa treatment. Fair enough.

Members will reportedly also get at least 5% off of any spa treatment when visiting other properties, and I look forward to providing readers with more pricing details when they become available. For now, we just know that Hilton’s Spa Club will have two membership levels – 6 month and 12 month.

Does the idea of a Spa treatment membership interest you?
