Hotels Available For Hurricane Matthew Evacuees

Hurricane Matthew is now a Category 4 storm with winds up to 140 mph, and those that are in the path are being urged to evacuate. For those trying to put distance between themselves and Hurricane Matthew though, they are having difficulty finding alternate accommodations when it comes to settling in for the night/weekend.

Where to go?

Many north Florida hotels and Macon Georgia hotels are booked solid.

Some properties were offering what they call “distressed traveler rates” but no longer have rooms left. Rosen Hotels & Resorts is offering reduced rates for those displaced, but there aren’t a lot of rooms left at those properties.

Rather than searching website after website to see which hotels remain open and still have room, a few special websites have emerged with consolidated data.

Websites to check hotel availability

VisitFlorida.com has a list showing which properties are good options. Especially helpful are the clickable links directly to each hotel, and a count showing how many rooms are available. There is also information clearly displayed about whether or not each hotel allows pets or offers disability access, and the nightly rates.

Another website with a hotel status log is palmbeachfl.com. Nightly rates are displayed, as well as a time stamp of when the information was last updated.

Airbnb

Florida Coastal – service fees are being waived for those affected by Matthew, and due to check in between October 5 and October 12, 2016. Those needing a place to stay or those offering space to those in need can go to their Urgent Accommodations Page.

South Carolina – service fees are being waived for those due to check in between October 3 and October 11, 2016 and there is an Urgent Accommodations page for those offering or needing a place to stay.

Georgia – service fees are being waived for those due to check in between October 5 and October 13, 2016 and there is an Urgent Accommodations page for those in need or for those willing to offer a place.
