Radisson Blu Royal Garden Hotel in Trondheim for $39?

Looking around at different websites to see what great hotel deals there were to be had for New Year’s Eve, I remembered View from the Wing mentioning a site highlighting extremely low-priced hotel rates.

I hopped over to Extreme Hotel Deals, which has very low rates at different hotels worldwide. The rates are usually nonrefundable, may not earn points or count towards elite qualification, and the booking portal sometimes redirects you to several different booking engines. No big deal to some who are just looking for a great price at a good hotel.

If you aren’t familiar with Extreme Hotel Deals here’s a summary of why they post the low rates, in their own words –

Searching by region, one of the current offers that caught my eye was the Radisson Blu Garden Hotel in Trondheim…for $39. Alas, it is not available for New Year’s Eve, but it is available during the entire month of April, September, and October 2015 (with the exception of October 30 and 31st). Perfect timing for the Easter holidays!

Since this property typically goes for around $150, I decided to follow their link which took me to HotelsCombined aggregate site. Once I entered my test date of April 9, 2015 I was redirected to HappyRooms.com and indeed the rate was actually lower than the $39, at just $36 including breakfast.

The best rate on Hotels.com for the same sample date was over $150 (also nonrefundable).

It looks like the Extreme Hotel Deals rate is only good for single occupancy, on weekdays. If I didn’t want to book on HappyRooms there were a few other booking engines available as well showing the same price.

I do enjoy holding status in hotel programs, and don’t anticipate that this will change my booking pattern. However, I am not always looking for hotels that count towards status. That’s when sites like Extreme Hotel Deals come in handy.
